The Leica 250

The Leica 250 camera also called "Reporter" is a black Leica III with increased film capacity.
Codeword LOOMY. Produced from 1933 (first 2 model based on the Leica II, without slow shutter speeds) to 1942.
(Although production officially ceased in 1942, 33 more were produced/sold until 1953)
Total production 983 ex.
The enlarged film magazines enable cassettes capacity of 10m of film corresponding to 250exposures availability.
The film is fed through the camera and wound into another cassette causing a partially exposed film to be cut and removed.
A prominent feature is the size of the film counter which is located under the winding knob and engraved from 0 to 250.
Two distinctive model were made : the FF, based on the Leica II with the top shutter speed of 1/500 and the GG based on the Leica IIIa with the 1/1000 top shutter speed.
A rare variety is the chrome body models produced for the American market.
Less than 200 models were produced with a power shaft socket for use with a special electric motor drive
