The Leica IIIa

The Leica IIIa camera, introduced in 1935the first issue bearing the serial number 156201 and production continued until 1948 when it terminated at serial number 357186.
Basically the model is identical to the Leica II except that the additional speed of 1/1000th was added to the shutter range, this making spotting photography more suitable for this camera.

91887 Leica IIIa camera were produced in chrome finish and 800 in black finish.

The catalogue code word was AGNOO91

For illustration, Leica IIIa cameras,
one  in black paint, 1935 issued with nickel Elmar 3.5/50 and black FISON and with SCNOO rapid winder on top of a FIAKU ball & socket head.
The other one in  chrome, 1936 issued, with chrome Elmar 3.5/50 + G type Yellow n° 1 FIRHE filter, ORAKO range finder contrast filter and chrome FISON,  with MOOLY motor with release linkage.
This IIIa is my very first Leica screw mount, bought in the 60’ies.
