The Leica M2

The Leica M2 camera,  production started in 1957, at serial number 926001.
Originally envisaged as a less costly alternative to the popular but expensive M3.

Production ended in 1967 at serial number 1165000 after 85200 units built (all versions included).

The main differences between the M2 and the M3 are that the former has an  external manual reset film counter and the viewfinder which incorporates finders for 35, 50 and 90 focal lengths.
The M2 accepts the rapid wind Leicavit without modification.

Early models have no self timer and a button rewind, second models also without self timer but  lever rewind and third models has self timer and lever rewind.
