The Universal Focusing Bellows

The Bellows I/16555 issued in 1951.
Early version was glossy black painted and had small diameter thread for the lens mount than the later one which was crackled black painted and was  supplied with adaptor ring UOOYW and the tube UOOVH for the lens head from the HEKTOR 135mm.
Later version had the same thread as the Universal Focusing Bellows II and all the adaptor rings were interchangeable.
The Bellows I can be used also with the PLOOT mirror reflex housing or with the FULDY focusing stage.

For illustration an early version with a special Compur IBSOR Shutter. Lens is a Rodenstock Trinar-Anastigmat 1 : 4.5 f 13,5 cm.

This illustration shows, from the right side, a complete early setting, including a Leica Standard black paint, a PLOOT mirror reflex housing with dual shutter cable release second model, an UXOOR  Universal focusing Bellows I and a UZEOO/16565, 1951 issued, large extending bellows lens hood, with change over mask frame for upright and horizontal shots. This earliest model clamps over the adaptor ring .

The Bellows II/16556, issued in 1961, for use with VISOFLEX II or III, is a lighter version of the Bellows I, with a second rail activated by a pignon rack to adjust the distance from the entire set to the subject.
For illustration the last scientific purpose M  body camera, the MD-2, close to a VISOFLEX III mirror reflex housing, with a 90°, 4x magnification viewfinder and  the 16557 large extending bellows lens hood with a42mm front lens mount.

There is a large possibility using various adaptors to use lens heads on the Universal Focusing Bellows II, the ultimate, illustrated,  is the V 280mm, version III , lens head that screws directly on the bellows front flange.

To illustrate the universality of the Leitz/Leica system : an Universal Focusing Bellows I coupled with Visoflex I in bayonet mount with a 30x magnification lens coupled with a Leica M8 camera body and OZXVO-M pneumatic shutter release.
Quite 60 years in between the oldest and the youngest item.

The Bellows-R/18860, issued in 1968, can be used for upright or horizontal format, rotatable scale rod engraved with reproduction scales from 90, 100 and 135mm lenses.

Lens aperture closed to preselected value by twin cable release. can be used with special 100mm MACRO-ELMAR over the focusing range infinity to 1:1 ratio.

Illustration shows a Leicaflex SL 2 camera body with the 14286, 90° angle viewfinder, coupled with the Bellows-R/18860 and MACRO-ELMAR 100mm lens.
Close to them is the genuine carton red and white box and also the 16863 adaptor ring for using the following lens on Bellows-R : 65mm Elmar , lens head from 90mm Elmarit and 135mm Tele-Elmar.
Other M lenses can be used with adaptor 14167.
